The large providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI) offer their spare VM capacity at an - often heavy - discount, with the understanding that these instances can be reclaimed at any time when needed by other customers. This "spot" or "preemptible" VM instance pricing is by far the most cost-effective way to add compute to your cloud.
